The growth calculator shows total return with dividends reinvested and assumes the position was never sold. It ignores tax and currency conversion, both of which matter for a Canadian holding US securities. Every name it lists survived; companies that failed do not appear, which flatters every result.

The course includes a session on Canadian accounts and tax. It describes how the legislation is written, what a court has decided, and what the Canada Revenue Agency has published.
